Competition confirmed: Tuesday, February 3, 2026
Official venue: Basser Negre, Ordino Arcalís, returning to the international freeride circuit for the first time since 2018
ORDINO ARCALIS, Andorra – February 1, 2026: The Allianz FIS Freeride World Championships Andorra 2026 by Mammut are officially confirmed to take place this Tuesday, February 3. This landmark event marks the first-ever Freeride World Championships sanctioned by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS), bringing together 65 of the world’s best freeride skiers and snowboarders from 17 nations to compete for the historic title of FIS Freeride World Champion.
Exceptional snow conditions over recent days have delivered up to 150 cm of fresh snowfall across the Ordino Arcalís area, creating an ideal stage for this inaugural championship. At the heart of the event is the legendary Basser Negre face (2,687 m), which returns for the first time since 2018. Known for producing some of the most memorable moments in Freeride World Tour history - such as Arianna Tricomi’s (ITA) standout performance in 2018 and Drew Tabke’s (USA) run the same year - Basser Negre is a venue worthy of a historic premiere.
Ready for history on Basser Negre
With a vertical drop of 470 meters, a northeast orientation, and an average slope angle of 36° (reaching a maximum of 47°), Basser Negre is perfectly suited for elite-level freeride competition.
The face is divided into three distinct technical zones, offering multiple line options from top to bottom, including sheer drops, exposed sections, and demanding transitions. This variety rewards creativity, fluidity, and confident decision-making, ensuring a world-class showcase for the sport’s very first World Championships.
