The Dolomiti Superbike once again attracts the big MTB stars to South Tyrol


After 27 years, the Dolomiti Superbike continues to live up to its reputation of being one of the biggest and most prestigious mountain bike marathons in Europe. Connoisseurs of the scene only have to take a look at the list of participants for the 27th Dolomiti Superbike, which will take place on Saturday, 9 July in the 3 Peaks region in the Dolomites. Especially in the men's race, it will once again be a showcase for the big stars. The fact that Jaroslav Kulhavý from the Czech Republic and Miguel Martinez from France - both of whom have already won an Olympic gold medal in cross country - will be at the start has already been announced, as has the participation of local hero Fabian Rabensteiner, who became European Marathon Champion just two weeks ago. But they are not the only ones who will be competing for victory in Villabassa.

Tiago Ferreira's participation has also been confirmed recently. The Portuguese has long been a regular at the Dolomiti Superbike. In 2015, he won the long distance (123 km). In the following years, he rose to marathon superstar status, winning World Championship gold in Laissac (France) in 2016 and becoming European champion in 2017 and 2019.


Will Andreas Seewald also win the Dolomiti Superbike?

In addition to Ferreira, other former Dolomiti Superbike winners will also be taking part. On Saturday, 9 July, the Swiss serial winner Urs Huber (2008, 2010, 2011), Alban Lakata from Austria (2012), the Czech Martin Stosek (2019) and Massimo Debertolis from Italy (2007 and 2009 on the long distance, from 2001 to 2003 on the short distance) will be at the start.

But also Andreas Seewald from Germany, who made a big splash on the marathon scene in 2021, is to be reckoned with. First he became European champion on Elba, then he also won the World championships in Capoliveri. The OC team in the 3 Peaks in the Dolomites also welcomes Nicola Taffarel from Italy, who won the 60 km distance last year, as well as local hero Klaus Fontana from Valdaora, the winner of the 13th edition in 2007.


Katazina Sosna leads the women's top field

There are also a number of female participants who have a lot to live up to. First and foremost Katazina Sosna, who wants to repeat her triumph from 2017. The Lithuanian crowned herself European marathon champion in 2019. In the last two editions of the Dolomiti Superbike the 31-year-old finished third. One of Sosna's biggest opponents is likely to be Chiara Burato, who won the 60 km short distance in 2019 and is likely to compete in the 123 km marathon this year.

At this year's Dolomiti Superbike, participants have three routes to choose from. They are 123 km (3400 m elevation gain), 85 km (2360 m elevation gain) and 60 km (1570 m elevation gain) long.
