FEI World Cup Finals World News: Dressage Final & Vaulting Final

DRESSAGE FREESTYLE: The Olympic and European champion Jessica von Bredow-Werndl finally added the FEI World Cup to her trophy cabinet riding the 15 year old stallion TSF Dalera BB.

The much-awaited FEI Dressage World Cup Final didn’t disappoint in Leipzig this evening, with 17 horse and rider combinations hotly contesting the title in the freestyle final.

It was a close affair with the legendary Isabell Werth, the defending champion, laying down the first score of over 85 percent with 85.921% but it wasn’t higher enough to successfully defend her title on the retiring Weihegold OLD. [they would finish in 3rd place]

The penultimate combination Denmark’s Catherine Dufour and Vamos Amigos just went over the 86 percent, going into the lead, scoring higher from the judges in both the technical and artistic elements of their freestyle test with 86.164%

But it was Germany’s Jessica von Bredow-Werndl and TSF Dalera BB that took it to another level, for too long Jessica had rideen in the shadow of Isabell wert at the world cup finals, this was her time to shine and she and her trusty partner put in a stunning freestyle test breaking the 90 percent and derservedly winning the title for the first time, with 90.836%

VAULTING FINAL: Under the lights of the Leipziger Messe the 2022 FEI Vaulting World Cup™ Champions were crowned. No-one could keep French Manon Moutinho from the female title whilst Lorenzo Lupacchini took his chance to bring home the glory for Italy. Janika Derks and Johannes Kay gave a spine-tingling ultimate performance to win the Pas de Deux.

After a great start in the Technical Test the trio of Manon Moutinho (FRA), Corrine Bosshard and Saitiri pulled out a show stopping Free Test with a perfect artistic score to win the final on 8.431.

The men’s competition went to a tense finish. After slipping from the horse in one of his risk exercises Lambert Leclezio (FRA) (8.628) had to watch the title go to Lorenzo Lupacchini (8.795). The Italian barely lost a point as he performed gracefully on top of Rosenstolz.

An exquisite final performance from the German Pair, Janika Derks and Johannes Kay, concluded the FEI Vaulting World Cup™ Final as well as their vaulting careers. Alongside Nina Vorberg and Humphrey Bogart OLD they left the audience with goosebumps as they became World Cup Winners (8.754).

It has been an historic Final in Leipzig. France and Italy each took the title for the first time in their respective classes.
