Pannonian Challenge 2021 The Audience Returns for the 22nd Edition
6 ago 2021
The long-awaited 22nd edition of the Pannonian Challenge will take place in Osijek, Croatia from the 11th of August to the 15th of August. This festival of extreme sports and urban culture has become one of the most important sporting events not only in Croatia, but in the whole region, thanks to its audience and fans. Adrenaline, breaking one’s own boundaries, good fun, synergy of sports and culture are only a few of its characteristics. Skate Park is reserved for the sports program of the competition, where the Inline, Scooter, Skate and BMX riders will demonstrate their mastery in front of the judges and the audience. The music program will be held in the courtyard of Stara Pekara. The whole event begins on Wednesday, 11th of August with an exhibition by photographer Samir Kurtagić.
The spirit and energy of the fans were missing from the festival in 2020, when due to Covid restrictions, attendance was limited. In 2021, the audience returns to the Pannonian Challenge, continuing the tradition that started in 1999, when the first extreme sports festival was held. Over the years, it has developed into a global project, along with its growing audience, which has become an indispensable and recognisable part of the Pannonian Challenge. Given that epidemiological safety measures are still in force, all safety protocols will be followed.
The Inline and Scooter disciplines are scheduled for the 12th of August, while the Skate competition is scheduled for Friday, 13th of August. The big finale is reserved for the most attractive discipline - BMX, which the audience will enjoy on Saturday, 14th of August. The Pannonian Challenge has produced the best experts in the world of BMX. In April, a team of adrenaline enthusiasts from Osijek took part in the creation of the skate park for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, where the BMX Freestyle discipline made its Olympic debut.
Some well-known names in the BMX world have confirmed their participation in this year's Pannonian Challenge: last year's BMX winner Jack Clark, Kirean Reilly, Alessandro Barrbero, the best Croatian BMX rider Marin Ranteš and the BMX legend Senad Grošić. The organisers have also announced the participation of BMX riders who competed at the Tokyo Olympics.
This year, the Pannonian Challenge will once again show its values: friendship, togetherness, team spirit and love for urban sports. All visitors will enjoy and experience these values in Osijek, from the 11th to the 15th of August, on the left bank of the Drava river.
